This is the day I found out I got my first acceptance to medical school. I was surrounded by some of my closest friends/chosen family.
I woke up that morning to a missed call and voicemail from a school personally congratulating me on my acceptance. Later that morning, I shared the news with everyone in our group right before we headed to our tour.
Earlier in the trip, when Martin and I were still in Japan, I got waitlisted at one school and rejected from another. So, I took a break from checking my emails obsessively and thinking about medical school. I told myself I would enjoy my vacation.
Then, towards the end of our trip, on the second day of our island tour in El Nido, I got the call.
Our trip was already so special and so fulfilling, but to find out about my acceptance in the Motherland, in a place so dear to me, was truly the cherry on top.
It's been a journey to get here, but I'm ready for more.
